Personality refers to the development of specific and society's characteristics by which we are symbolized and recognised as to whom we are. In this assignment I actually intend to explore the meaning of identity. In considering the link between personal and social, I will examine the process of id formation, and discuss the extent in which we are able to control and condition our own identities.

The definition of identity continues to be contested by many people social researchers, as it has many influences, which includes to be deemed, such as, male or female, social class, nationality, physical appearances, faith based and ethnicity. Initially, all of us acquire some areas of identity through official paperwork, such as birth certificate, where in order to get out of, a birth must be signed up and labeled by brand and sexuality, which can under no circumstances be legitimately changed and influence our entire identification formation, regarding the expected manner within female and assertive characteristics (Woodward, 2004, p. 44).
